Accessibility

This accessibility statement applies to the families.leicester.gov.uk website. It applies to all pages contained within the site.

This website is run by Leicester City Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use our website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts, albeit these are not applied to text embedded within images. We would recommend using the ‘Text only’ version to take advantage of this.
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We are aware of some issues that may affect the accessibility of some parts of the website:

  • Some information videos are missing audio or text description which prevents those with visual or hearing impairments to access the information displayed.
  • Headings are not always correctly used which will prevent screen readers and keyboard users to navigate information in the correct order.
  • Colour contrast in places that will make it difficult for people with colour blindness or impaired vision to read the content.
  • When increasing the magnification of pages that contain a “in this section” banner, the banner covers up the entire page.
  • Screen readers and keyboard users cannot bypass repeated content that appears of multiple pages.
  • Search results are not announced to screen reader users.
