Specialist health services
The NHS provide universal services that everyone can access and use. However, children and young people with SEND may need to access targeted services to support their specific needs.
Targeted services offer support to children and young people with a disability, a medical condition and/or a special educational need who may need the support throughout their lives. Referral for targeted services is normally made by GPs, health professionals or agencies.
NHS Leicestershire Partnership Trust provide details of both universal and targeted services available in the community for children and adults. Some key services are:
- Speech, language and communication
- Sensory or physical disabilities
- Learning disabilities
- Mental health and wellbeing
