Parent and Carer Forum
It is really important that parent carers are fully included in planning for their child or young person’s future. Between us we have a huge range of experiences which are essential when shaping the provision of support for our children.
Who are we?
We are a group of mums, dads and carers with a child or children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The forum is open to everyone with a child or young person from birth to 25, regardless of the level of their disability, their culture, gender or their community.
Within the forum some of our parent carers represent us on the local authority’s SEND Board and the Preparing for Adulthood Partnership Board. Leicester, like all of the country’s Parent Carer Forums, is a member of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums so also meets at regional and national levels to influence local and central governments.
The important thing is that we have our voice heard and acted upon.
When and where we meet
The meetings take place from 10am to 1pm with refreshments throughout and lunch provided from 12.30pm to 1pm. Transport can be provided if needed.
We meet every month (except August) in term time at:
Barnes Heath House
Barnes Heath Road
Leicester
LE5 4LB
